Mirrorgloss
Mirrorgloss
Mirrorgloss were a bit shocked when they were named the Tacoma Weekly's Volcano best new band of 2014, but all things considered after dropping a rough and rare demo produced by electronic music tastemaker, Eliot Lipp and building a buzz in both the Tacoma and Seattle scenes playing anything from parties in dingy punk rock houses to opening for artists as diverse as Mikky Ekko, it's no wonder why they have developed such a steady following.
Citing influences as diverse as LCD Soundsystem, Erykah Badu, Shalamar, and The Gossip, Mirrorgloss began creating music in the Spring of 2013, straight off the heels of a Jeff Buckley tribute performance at the New Frontier Lounge. Being able to form bonds learning the intricate arrangements and getting the ultimate high of eventually performing live was all the band needed to start writing original material. Mirrorgloss in various forms have been a quartet and a trio, and former guitarist and Danny Kenny shaped their earlier sound profoundly, composing music electronically and playing rock inspired guitar over the dual vocal pairing of Najamoniq Todd and Del Brown, the sound was an unmistakable hybrid of electronic dance pop, with powerful guitar riffs and a strong neo 80's aesthetic.
Torbjorn
Torbjorn
The content of one's art is first and foremost influenced by their own human experience. With an extensive background in many musical styles on multiple instruments, this holds true for Tor Caspersen (AKA Torbjørn) as well. His roots in classical violin and jazz guitar plays to a distant yet familiar melody, while an extensive education in sound technology and music production ensures a big sound that will move the crowd. Torbjørn’s music will have you enjoying a familiar sense of hip hop sampling and vocal tags, with the rhythms and percussion native to halftime. And of course, bass.
